Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food with my family.

Georgia

Georgia

Georgia is one of the most amazing places I have visited. It has such a fun atmosphere with southern cooking, upbeat music, and the friendlist people around. Also can we just take a minute and talk about the incredible moss that drapes over these century old trees. It is just so whimsical and magical at the same time. One of my favorite places we visited in Savannah was River street. It is this cobble stone road along the waterfront lined with restaurants and homemade candy shops. The boys loved watching the taffy being stretched and pulled until it was the perfect consistence, then they cut and wrapped the taffy before placing them on a conveyer belt to be divided into different favor bins. We probably sat there sampling all the different flavors for about 45 minutes. Blue raspberry and Watermelon were family favorites of ours. While strolling down River street we came to a restaurant called (Huey's on the River) it had all the windows open and not an empty table in sight. We looked at a menu and decided to drop in for lunch. Right away my husband ordered the Gumbo and loved it. The boys and I had our eye on some fried chicken and their signature Beignets. Those Beignets are seriously AMAZING. I still crave that sugar packed pastry goodness. A lady once told me at a local fair while eating a giant elephant ear that baked goods that were made at home are calorie free. Though I don't think she truly believed that was the truth , I chose for it to be my truth;) However calorie free or not those Beignets are worth every single calorie.

see what i mean?! YUM!

Playing with swords that were made by a local street vendor. I think they were a highlight of the trip in the boys eyes.

These two are so fun and trouble all in the same moment. I just can't get enough of those sweet smiles.

One of the boys favorite things we did was picking peaches. We looked up a few Upick places and came across this local family owned Peach Farm called Tom Sawyer Farm. This local orchard was a perfect thing to do after spending a day doing busier activities. I have never picked peaches at a orchard before and I have to admit I was just as excited as the boys were. This particular peach farm offered homemade peach ice cream made in their personal kitchen on the property and it was priced at only 50 cents a cone. My husband and I were both a little surprised when she said the price and asked again to confirm. I swear nothing cost only 50 cents these days let alone yummy homemade Ice cream. It was such a fun little orchard and would recommend it to anyone in the area. Here are a few pictures of the farm and their beautiful peaches.
