Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food with my family.

Easter chicks

Easter chicks

Easter is just around the corner and I couldn't be more excited. I have always had a special place in my heart for the Easter Holiday. Being raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS), I was taught about our savior Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. As I grow older my love for my Savior has only gotten deeper and more true. The Easter Holiday holds traditions and beliefs that are so meaningful and dear to my heart. I hope to instill this belief and faith in my children.

Every year around this time of year we go see the new chicks at the local Tractor Supply store. My boys love looking at those adorable little chicks and I have to admit I love them too. With that said, the boys beg me every year to buy them, they make huge pleas saying over and over "I'll take care of them, I promise." Well if you are a mom then you know that is not always the case and more than likely you are signing up for a full time job. So every year I gladly decline and tell them we will come back next year to see them and with disappointed faces we leave the store and usually get ice cream.  This year was different my husband and I had been discussing whether or not we would take the plunge and get chickens. I went back and forth knowing the addition responsibilities we would be taking on. However my husband was convinced that having chickens would be a great opportunity to teach our boys about responsibilities, and if they slacked at all he would do it. DONE! DONE! and DONE! I was completely up for that!  Never in a million years did I ever think that I would own chickens. With that said, I couldn't be more pleased with these lovely ladies. It has been so fun watching the boys bond with their chickens. I love watching them race past the front door eager to hold their chickens after school. It has been a really neat experience. We have 4 beautiful brown and yellow chickens named: Winnie, Eleanor, Lady and Ruby, Ruby "the Rocket" that is. She is by far the one with the most personality and teases my boys the most (which I secretly love watching). "The girls" as I like to refer to them are so loving and put up with my boys cuddling and sometimes too tight squeezes, needless to say we absolutely love them and welcome them with open arms to our family.

Some photos of our family enjoying an afternoon at the park with the whole clan. (including the chickens)

We laughed so hard my face hurt. This little Maguire has such a fun personality.
